The story of Terre Blanche

An outstanding property

The property was acquired by Charles Bouge at the end of the 18th century and held by his family until 1979, the date when it was bought by Sean Connery.

The dream of a man with a passion for nature

Terre Blanche resort is the result of a love story between one man and Provence.  It was in the late 1990s that Dietmar Hopp discovered the Terre Blanche site. It was a case of love at first sight for what was, at the time, a piece of wasteland; the sad memory of an unfinished project. Yet rather than seeing what had not been achieved, it was the potential of this immense area that caught the attention of keen golfer Dietmar Hopp.

Respect for the environment

Terre Blanche is the story of a development inspired by a passion and a desire to share it with others without disturbing the fragile balance of nature. A resort designed to be kind to the environment and developed in close consultation with French and international stakeholders in economics, tourism and sport.

Passion and generosity

Terre Blanche unfolds across 300 hectares of primary forest without overwhelming its surroundings. Everything has been designed to conserve the natural vegetation and ensure the resort blends in with the villages of the Haut-Var. The environmental approach that has been taken to the resort’s architecture and construction make it a true ecological success story.
It has also been an economic success for the Canton of Fayence, with the creation of hundreds of jobs directly and thousands more indirectly. Terre Blanche worked in partnership with local stakeholders right from the start of the construction process and continues to do so in its day-to-day operation.
